Chow Chow

Cooking Directions:

4 cups chopped cabbage
2 cups chopped onions
2 cups chopped green peppers
2 cups chopped green tomatoes
1/2 cup salt
4 cups white vinegar
8 cups water
3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons mustard seed
2 tablespoons celery seed

Dissolve salt in water and pour over chopped vegetables. Let stand one
hour; drain. Rinse and drain a second time to ensure that the mixture is
not too salty.

Mix vegetables with sugar, spices and vinegar, simmer over low heat for 20
minutes. Bring to a boil, and then immediately pack into hot sterilized
